Detroit Sports Website to Auction Barry Sanders Autographed HOF ball for Charity.
August 11, 2004 — MotorCitySports (www.motorcitysports.net) will be auctioning a Hall of Fame football, signed by former Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders.
The football is 1 of just 200 available, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from John Bankert, the Executive Director of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The funds raised will be placed in the Sharon Antcliff fund, formed recently with the help of the North/West chapter of the Michigan Alzheimer’s Association.
The fund is named in the honor of the mother of Kevin Antcliff, the Editor-in-Chief of www.motorcitysports.net. Mrs. Antcliff was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease just over three years ago, at the age of 53. Now 57, this rare form of AD has moved quickly through her body, and has left her a shell of her former self. Her family struggled through caring for her at home until just recently, often times needing a break that never came. This fund, formed with the struggles of her family in mind, will help to give future families a chance to step back, and take even the shortest of breaks from this disease, and it’s effects.
The auction will be listed on www.eBay.com at 6AM Eastern time, on August 11th. It will run for 10 days.
Interested bidders can be linked to the auction from the www.motorcitysports.net home page.
