Innovative Infant Wear Catches On
TRAVERSE CITY, MI April 1, 2004 — More than 70 stores in 26 U.S. states are carrying Stylease?s patented line of playful, stylish and practical one-piece outfits that look like separates.
Stylease creator Jennifer Hughes, the mother of two, says she?s thrilled at the nationwide response to her clothing concept, which debuted only a year ago. ?It tells me that this is a product that?s been missing from the marketplace,? she says. ?Stores and consumers are very excited about the fresh new concept.?
There?s nothing out there quite like Stylease?. Hughes devised the concept after seeing how impractical all those adorable multi-piece outfits were on her small daughters: They became untucked, they rode up, they got twisted. And though one-piece outfits are practical for newborns, crawling infants and busy toddlers, the styles are limited. ?Then I thought, where is it written that a one-piece has to look like one?? Hughes said.
Enter Stylease. This new company?s outfits feature accessible designs that make life easier — designs that also keep infants looking tidy and adorable. No more bare bellies. All styles open from the top (important for babies who don?t like clothes pulled over their heads) and snaps allow parents to make easy diaper changes.
?People don’t realize our clothes are one-piece until you tell them. And it still doesn’t sink in until you see and handle the clothes themselves,” says Hughes.
Stylease?s new spring line, in stores now, features 14 styles for boys and girls, newborn to 24 months old. The clothing retails for about $24 and includes such happy styles as Poo-Poo Platter, Go-Cart and Swing Set. ?The boy?s line is especially popular since there are fewer choices of great-looking infant wear for boys,? Hughes says.
